A 6-week Gateless writing salon
for the lunar man or woman seeking creative
encounters with the fecund night of their being.

In an age blinded by the blazing rays of untempered masculine values, the lunar man or woman, if s/he is not careful, can also become entranced, and scorch themselves from within from the burning anxiety to “become” someone (...as if who they are presently is not enough).
The darkness of winter calls out to such a person inviting them to slow down, to open their ear to the below, and to drop into the mysterious night of their own being.
Malidome Some (1995) says that the Dagara people of Africa have no word to describe the numinous, or spiritual, dimension of life. The closest concept is a word called Yielbongura which translates as “the thing that knowledge can’t eat.” In this same spirit, a lunar being’s resilience in this solar age of false power, life-destroying “progress”, and social media depends entirely on their ability to not only relate with but to become completely enchanted by the fecund night of their own being — that place within that is deeper than one’s innermost depths which rational thinking, the overculture, or even wound cannot eat. Creative writing is one pathway to that innermost place.
“The creative process takes place not under the burning rays of the sun but in the cool reflected light of the moon when the darkness of unconsciousness is great: night, not day, is the time for begetting. Darkness and stillness, secrecy, remaining mute and veiled, are a part of it. For this reason the moon as lord of life and of growth is opposed to the death character of the devouring sun.” ~ Neumann
